(Overloaded) Information Age

I just want to share some thoughts I have in mind.

In this era of digital world, the world is filled with too much information. One topic can be broken down in many media appearances. It doesn't even need to be one topic - one specific news about a specific event can be formed in numerous ways - that's why being on the Internet today can be overwhelming.

As a person who basically likes to read, while browsing the internet, I am aware that I have the habit to click every article which topic appears interesting in mind. Which leads to numerous tabs on my browser. But above 70%, the things that I read doesn't leave a special impression to me. The content doesn't align to my expectation of the title, I don't know whether this is because I've read a similar topic or not, but yeah that's how I felt. Only few - I mean very few - highlights their point. Sometimes I think that maybe people just want to have a lot of traffic in their web through posting these things - I don't know.

Despite of that, we can see it in a different point of view. With the increasing of information, there are other people who wants to stand out. They want give something special through the platform they give but it unconsciously creates a trend that at least from I assume, are..

We are transparent with each other, we want to share things with each other, we want to inspire people.

This is the benefit of our digital age, there are tons of inspiring articles that seems like a person want to help another person - I have just described the exact kind of article I was talking about on the 3rd paragraph. This is how we use the digital age to help each other. For example, the really general conclusion I have from most psychology, self-reflection, self-development, leadership, etc. articles are this:
1) Believe in yourself
2) Never give up
3) You are what you give

..and many tons of things I've also missed. Sounds cliche? Every breakdowns of each point comes with different events, different way of delivery, different challenge, but mostly in my mind sums up to that. Those inspiring kind of articles in the internet sums to that conclusion.

That's just how the internet taught me something, taught me that I am not the only person that felt certain thoughts. There's also a lot of people that can even bluntly tell their stories in the Internet, and it can be worse than me. Maybe they aim to inspire people, to share stories so other people will learn from it - it depends. All I know it shows me to be grateful. But apparently, humans' mindset are not as simple as that. Even though we've knew that fact, our unconscious mind still often interpret the negative perspective, which leads us to over-think and it will reflect on our action after that. That mostly happens when we find out through the internet that there are still a lot of people who is better in many terms of perspective - maybe knowledge, experience, skills, etc. Sometimes in Social Media, it is true that a person's life could seem so much fun and teens often reflect on why their lives isn't as good as the subject. Which can impact to reducing the readers' confidence. The question is, what is the right thing to do then?

Start using the information displayed on the internet the right way to empower our mind. I'm not saying this because I believe that everything posted in the internet is true, but I think in this information age we need to have the awareness to drive our minds when observing information. Getting a lot of information is a risk of people who have the hobby to surf the internet, and I believe this awareness is needed by everyone. Somehow also one realization point I conclude to motivate myself to learn how to survive in this era I can't run from. With the amount of overloaded information we have today, I hope that the online world will not drive people to over-think negative things about themselves but to reflect themselves based on positive facts. So, in the end, people who applies their hobby in reading through the internet can still occupy themselves by enriching their perspectives. Hopefully readers can make the internet to be able to drive positive behavior by setting the right mind-set.
